Exalted Ruler's Message
Friends, family, brother and sister Elks:
Almost one year ago I started my year as exalted ruler with those words. That means I have written this message 12 times, and all of them written about a month in advance, including this one. How is that for time travel, eh?
But anyway, back to the here and now. This is my final message and my final Elk of the Month.
Up to now, my Elk of the Month has been non-officers and I have decided to break from this and go with Greg Theriault as Elk of the Month for March! Many of you know Greg and all that he does for our lodge as trustee, as
chairperson of committees - most recently on the by-law changes - so he really does do a lot. So here is a thank-you to you!
Yes, it really has been almost a year and throughout the year my theme has been for everyone to be a part of the lodge. And as I have said before, it really doesn't take a lot to be involved.
With our new Exalted Ruler coming on at the end of March, I am sure he would like to have everyone's participation. By now, I am sure everyone knows who he is: Dave Anderson. He has been trustee and chairperson of the trustees for a number of years.
He has done a lot of Sportsman's Nights and Buck Nights and I believe him to be the right person for the job.
As I write this, it is the day after our Valentine Day's Party. I gotta say - what a bash! As I walked in, I took a minute and looked around and guess what I saw, people having fun! I mean the DJ was playing music and interacting with everyone, he ran a few interactive games and the Elks version of the newlywed game, it was after all, Valentines ya know! And in the background everyone is talking and laughing having a fun time and spreading it round from table to table. Of course, some of that could have been because of some of the other games happening all over - like human bingo.
Everyone had a great time and as I walked into the building Rose came up to me and told me how pleased she was that the event was going so well. I mean she was really happy and that made me really happy. The point here is having fun - being with friends and, believe it or not, being a part
of your lodge. Didn't see that coming, did you?
I am that sure that Dave will have a new theme, but no matter the theme, this is your lodge so be a part it!
As I close out this my final message and the end of my year, I would like to thank all my officers: Steve, Carlette, Jim, Marge, Ken, Paul, John, Mike, Pam and Harold for all their help and support. I could not have done it without any of you.
Thanks to all the Past Exalted Rulers for your thoughts and suggestions, and yes, even you, uncle. And finally to all the members, thank you. Without you, where would we be?
Sincerely and fraternally yours,
Chris
