The Order Of The Silver Rose Ceremonies

The Sanford Elks has just voted unanimously at their last meeting to donate their function hall about 10 times a year for the Silver Rose Ceremonies for deserving Vietnam Veterans who have been exposed to Agent Orange. Joe Armstrong leads this effort as President of the Rolling Thunder, York County Chapter, and had a plea in the local newspaper asking for a spot to hold the maybe 2 hour ceremony at minimul cost as the group does not have alot of funds. They were in need of a space for these ceremonies after where they were held before had rent increase that they could not afford. The Veterans Committee will be meeting with Joe for details and will be helping out with this under their committee.  To learn more about this, see the link.  http://www.silverrose.info/

Sanford Elks #1470 send Hoop Shoot Winners to Brunswick

On Sunday, Jan 11th, we could have predicted there would be a snow storm, it was the scheduled day for Sanford Elks Hoop Shoot. But we had a great turn out of kids, families and volunteers and we have 5 winners headed to Brunswick for the Coastal shoot on Sunday. Gary Petrin, Hoop Shoot Chairman, did a great job again this year getting the word out and running the Hoop Shoot at the Sanford Junior HIgh Gym. We want to thank the Elks that came out to volunteer and make the morning fun for the kids.
