Exalted Ruler's Message
Hi Everyone!
Well, Dick and I are back from National Convention in Orlando. The weather was great - 89 to 97 degrees and no humidity.
Thanks, Bill Ruff for the “Ribeye” on June 30. I've heard nothing but good reports on how excellent everything was and the ribeye being very tender.
On Saturday, August 21 we will be having “NASCAR Nite”. The race is at 7:30 p.m., so watch the lodge bulletin board and newspapers for more information about a lunch and other details. On Tuesday, July 27 we initiated David McCafferty as our newest member. Congratulations, Dave. He was sponsored by Marie Paterson.
We sent whoopee pies, cookies, and brownies up to Rapid River for the Vets that were going up there from July 19-24 for some fly fishing. They had good weather. Thank you to Don Richard, Debi Briggs, Dee Welch and myself for donating and baking. This is part of the wounded vets program.
I hope those of you with computers enjoy getting your newsletter online. Debi has worked at getting it up and running, but some came back so if you didn't receive yours check with Debi to see if you gave her the correct e-mail address or maybe you changed it since you gave it to her.
We have a new bartender on board. Welcome, Sara Rock!
On Saturday, September 11 we will be having a Flag Retirement Ceremony. So if you or someone you know has a American worn flag that needs to be disposed of properly, bring it to the lodge. There is a box by the door.
I would like to have a PERs and spouses picnic at the lodge on Sunday, August 22. If interested in attending, please let me know and I will be calling for help.
Fraternally,
Sandee Welch, PER

Inkjet and toner cartridge collections
To everyone who has been calling us for pick-up or dropping off their empty inkjet and toner cartridges: thank you, and don't stop collecting them! Maine Children's Cancer Program is a very good program. It has helped many young children in this area.
Thanks to Swift River Health Care, Oxford Federal Credit Union, Dr. Everett and Cameron, Carey Associates and the Eagles Club for their participation.
It doesn't cost you a thing to participate as the empty cartridges just get thrown away. Please help out and bring them to the lodge or give us a call and we will pick them up. Once again, thanks to all who help us! (Debi and Sandee)
